East Indonesia Focus East Indonesia Focus Family Care Indonesia ongoing educational support program aided dozens of schools in Indonesia’s eastern region in 2009--working extensively in Ruteng, Ende and Maumere in Flores, as well as Kupang and Atambua in Timor. In addition, we located interested sponsors facilitating the construction of a new school building in Atambua and surveyed refugee villages near Ambon for future projects. We also sponsored projects in Makassar providing free health care and hygiene education.

Team to Timor and Alor This month Angel and Monica traveled to Atambua, Timor Island to check on the construction of the third school building on the site for needy children in that area. This third building will add an extra 3 class rooms. The project is proceeding well and should be finished before the end of the year.

More Character Building Seminars in Papua

Family Care Indonesia volunteer Gary McMahon teamed up with good friend and part-time helper Jean Christensen to conduct Character Building seminars for over 380 teachers and parents in Papua in early November in Jayapura and Timika. Jean gave a lively, funny and very interesting presentation on being an inspired teacher to teachers from TK, SD and PAUD while Gary delivered a moving and motivational presentation on parenting for the parents.
