Family Care Indonesia often sends volunteers to remote areas of Indonesia. Usually this comes about through friends we’ve met while conducting our volunteer activities. These friends then invite us to conduct special projects in other areas of Indonesia.
Recently, one such invitation brought two
FCI volunteers to Bangka Island, east of Sumatra.
FCI volunteers spent two weeks on the island visiting schools and teaching school children on a daily basis as the focus of this particular trip was teaching and counseling. Volunteers visited many members of the local community and were able to hear firsthand the problems and challenges that the people face. This was an opportunity to establish contacts and survey the potential for future
FCI projects in this area.
