Another of our on-going projects in Aceh is the service of a fully equipped Mobile Clinic which has been in operation since May 2006, and has traveled down the West Coast of Aceh visiting camps and villages providing free medical care, donating medicine and other medical supplies.

This ambulance has now been making an average of 7 major field trips per month, serving many villages and communities that otherwise would have no help. It is also on call to assist in any emergency that may come up, as well as setting up medical service centers and pharmacies at several villages.

The Project started when we met with a group of local businessmen who had all studied at ITB and now owned well-established businesses. Hearing about our projects in Aceh they contacted us about the possibilities were of starting a project together. The immediate need seemed to be one of medical attention as health care facilities are pretty much nonexistent in those regions.

This group of businessmen, also known as Klompok “G” donated a brand new, fully equipped mobile clinic designed to handle the rough terrain of Aceh with medicine supplies and the medical team and equipment needed to service many of the previously unaided hill tribes of Aceh. To date they have continued to fund this project making it possible for our mobile clinic and medical team to continue with this venture as well as developing new projects which include health and hygiene seminars at various centers.

A contributing factor to this project was when an NGO which was leaving the Aceh area got in contact with us to let us know they had a medium-sized warehouse full of various medicines and supplies which we could use for the free clinic services.
